Christmas Party 2005

Saturday, 24 December 2005

We had just experienced a memorable baptism ceremony and it was time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. More people were coming. And more food too! To ensure order and minimize waste, Relief Society decided to serve.

Sister Susana and Sister Encha (barely visible) at one table.

Sister Ivy, Sister Ott and Sister Hilda at another.

What are you doing, Sister Ivy?

After everyone has eaten, came Elder/Sister Ott with a tray of sliced chocolate brownies which they purchased from a local cake shop. A favorite with the youth and the children, and the adults too – yum-yum.

Local Miri 'chocolate brownies'?
They are different from the ones that we have tasted before.

Would a Xmas party be complete without a Santa? There he is, the Miri branch Santa – Elder Despain. Physically he did not look like the North Pole Santa. He did not come with Rudolph, the red nose reindeer. He came walking with his heart full of love for the children who were happy for whatever amount of sweets he could put in their little outstretch hands.

Look at Sister Gabrielle behind the Santa!!

Sister Gabrielle just love the Santa.
She is in front too.

Time for some game. Let’s play musical chair.

Big children, small children. Sister Gloria can't wait to sit!

Quick! There is a chair here.

Brother Jason, you are out!

What about the adults' turn now? I heard my name called. I was out of the game when the music stopped the second time.

Sister Gloria and Sister Gloria (co-incidentally, they both have the same name) went and stood in the middle to control the adults from sitting too fast.

Brother Eric (in blue shirt) was determined.

Who could beat Sister Maria?

And finally a presentation from the Elders.

Elder Randall, Rodley, Despain and Gibbons.
Elder Gibbons is so happy that he wanted to dance as well.
